Sen Wood Container for Tea Leaves Kozutsu

by Studio GALA, designed by Ryoichi Kobayashi

The simple design makes use of its beauty. This wooden loose tea container has an exquisitely smooth surface made from Sen wood. Sen wood is only found in Japan, and a few parts of East Asia. This tea canister is made out of a block of Japanese Sen wood, each piece is painstakingly shaped by hand. It has a slight shine in its natural colour, no coating added both outside and inside. This enables the wood to adjust the moisture and dryness of the environment, and keeps the tea leaf fresh. There are four sizes which are designed to be the same height, and the top is made flat so that they are stackable.
