Scent Holder Koh-bukuro

This aesthetic scent holder brings serenity and soothes the senses. It is made from Japanese paper strings called Mizuhiki that are elegant and beautiful but resilient and robust. Each piece is meticulously woven by Mizuhiki artists in Kanazawa city in Ishikawa - a place where these special strings have been used for centuries. The side top opens for the scent to be placed inside, and other aromas or potpourris suit the holder as well. The holder comes with aromatic Japanese wood. They make a great gift. Mizuhiki was originally used as an decorative ribbon to wrap gifts for the dignitary - it was the way to show the respect to the person who received it. Long ago and today, the very shape of the Mizuhiki conveyed an implicit message, such as joy, happiness, appreciation, or condolence. This is how the people have turned their invisible feelings into a visible form. These scent holders are a modern creation that preserves a traditional japanese material in a form that fits well into the present.
